The Edmonton Public Library’s Information Services Division, in partnership with the Government of Alberta is offering a free series of one-hour introductory lectures designed to increase your awareness and understanding of the law.

Topics covered will include: enduring powers of attorney, personal directives, guardian/trustee
orders, what happens if you die without a will, basic components of a will, duties of an executor,
and the role of the Public Trustee.

Cybercrime: When Computers Go Bad
The presentation will explain how computers are used to commit conventional crimes and how
personal and corporate computers can become the target of crimes. You will learn, in plain
language, how to protect yourself, your children, your wallet and your computer.

Family Law Act and Family Justice Services
The presentation will give an overview of the Family Law Act that came into force on October
1, 2005. The Family Law Act deals with issues of parentage, guardianship, child support and
parenting and contact orders. The presentation will also provide an overview of Family Justice
Services and a description of the various program initiatives available to assist families
interfacing in the legal system.

This timely presentation will introduce you to legislation regarding Residential Tenancies in
Alberta as well as recommend online resource tools for understanding the law for both tenants

and Tenants in Alberta web site.
