Maintenance Enforcement Program

When my child turns age 18, is he/she still entitled to support?

Whether a child remains eligible for child support after age 18 depends on the wording of your order or agreement and the legislation your order or agreement was made under. Some legislation continues child support after a child turns 18 if they remain dependent upon the creditor due to illness, disability or while attending school. Some legislation terminates child support at age 18.

It is recommended that you contact a lawyer if you have questions about whether your adult child is still eligible for support.
